Can Frozen MAC n CHEESE Be Gourmet? Beecher's Smoked Flagship Review: SuperChef vs Supermarket

Jul 14, 2025 · 4:41

Summary

Darnell tackles Beecher's Smoked Flagship Mac and Cheese on Super Chef Versus Supermarket. At $11.99 for two servings, this frozen comfort food claims premium status, but is it actually worth twelve bucks? He breaks down the price, nutrition, and most importantly, the taste of that smoked cheddar flavor. The verdict? Solid B minus on taste, but mac and cheese reheats terribly and tightens up fast. Darnell respects that they don't oversalt it, giving you control at home. This is a good product worth trying, but making it yourself stays undefeated.

All right

So, on this episode of Super Chef Versus Supermarket, I mean, we're going nostalgic

I want to do a side dish you can pop in the microwave, feed a couple people

So, we're going straight to one of the most ordered things in restaurants, mac and cheese

So, I can't wait to take Man, come on.

Take this back

Let's try this out

Let's rate this

Let's see if it's worth the money, cuz it a it ain't cheap

So, let's see what it is. [Music] All right, so we are back on another episode

Super Chef First Supermarket

We are here now

You know, we got mac

and cheese

So, we got Beachers smoked flagship mac and cheese

I'm going to tell you the picture looks fire

Um, before I made this, we showed you a minute ago how much cheese sauce they put on top, which I thought was nostalgic and amazing

Takes you back to the old days

Um, but let's dive into

this

First of all, price, price, price

Right now, the way inflation is, price matters as much as it takes

A lot of people agree with that

Um, price-wise, $11.99

Um, serves two people

It says two to four, but um I It could serve four kids

That is true

Can serve four kids, but realistically adults, it's

only going to serve two people

Um, so you're looking at if it's $12, you're looking at $6 for this side

So, things start adding up

Um, you do pay for quality

Um, this one thing they brag a lot, man

Like they I love it

They use only the best ingredients

High bar for deliciousness

Um, and they do a lot of

things

They've invested over 4 million in like equipping 225,000 kids on how to read packaging and how to make smart decisions

That's so smart cuz most people can't read a package and don't know what to get

So, I commend them for that and I commend them for charging what they think they should charge for a

premium product

This would be technically a premium mac and cheese inside of the grocery store

Um, so as far as the price goes, it's premium. $11.99, $12

I mean, for two, that's expensive

That's expensive

So, I'd have to say that's probably a C

I give you a C for price

Nutrition, um,

[Music] woo

Um, saturated fats, you know what I'm saying? 80%

Um, that's probably the high

I mean, that's probably the low

Um, lot of saturated fat

Um, after that, no added sugars

I give it a C2

I don't want to beat it down or

anything like that

The numbers are a little higher than I like them to be, but I give it a C2

You know what I'm saying? C's pass

C's

I mean, you don't get a whooping for a C, get a whooping for a D

Um, so let's get to the the whole reason we're really here

Uh,

let's get to the taste

Um, now that it's cooled down, cuz it was piping hot. piping

Let's go ahead and try it out

I didn't add any salt, pepper, or nothing to this

I just want to try the product as is

Look at these ingredients real quick cuz [Music]

you can taste the smoked cheddar

Boy, I had to see what kind of cheese they was using, but you can taste smoked cheddar for sure

It's pretty good

Not going to lie

Pretty good

The thing about this mac and cheese is mac creams don't do good reheating

Just is what it is

You make

mac and cheese one day, the next day you warm it up, you start seeing the oil separate from the cheese

It tightens up so fast

Mac and cheese is a hard thing

The flavor on this is a solid B minus

Um, it needs seasoning, but I understand when you start adding seasoning stuff, you start raising up all the sodiums and

everything

Let people at home make that choice

So, I respect that part of it

Um, because once people add too much, you can't take away

You can always add a little garlic salt to this

Add some black pepper

Um, and as soon as it cools down, you lose the mac and cheeseiness that you're looking for in

mac and cheese

Uh, but the flavors there, uh, mac and cheese is a hard one to do

So, I'm going to be looking for the person who perfects it, but mac and cheese is hard

Overall, tastewise, solid B minus

Um, it is what it is

I think it's a product worth trying

Um, but yeah, this is Super Chef

Supermarket

Let me know what you want to see me try out

This is a good product

Um, but mac and cheese is tough, man

Make your own mac and cheese at home, man

Make it cheesy

Make it velvety

Buying it like this, it tightens up so much when you see you next time

DM me

Let me know what you

want to see us do

Can't wait till next time.
